A GALLERY showing less than appetising photos of plane food shows exactly why mile high-grub gets such a bad reputation.
While many of us will have chowed down on some boring in-flight dishes in the past, spare a thought for this unlucky bunch – who claim to have been served with some rather grim goods.
From dodgy desserts to stomach-churning sarnies – some of these meals barely look edible.
One passenger, allegedly flying on a Virgin flight, laid into the airline for a bad brekkie, saying: “Virgin Australia take a bow.
“The lowest greenest most horrible eggs I have ever eaten…”
Meanwhile a vegetarian travelling on a Bulgaria Air flight claims they were given a HAM sandwich and a rotten apple.
They posted: “My best ever in-flight #VEGETARIAN meal – a ham sandwich and a rotten apple!”

Another woman, travelling to Indonesia, was left unsure about her jelly-like food and wasn’t about to try it.
She commented: “I do not know what this is. I really can’t imagine. And I’m certainly not going to try it…”
And on website airlinemeals.net– a site dedicated to the food served in the skies – passengers have also left a string of moans and groans about the food they’ve been served.
A traveller, claiming to be flying with Lufthansa, raged: “Worst economy meal I’ve ever eaten.
“The sandwich was cold and tasteless, the fruits weren’t fresh. Shame on you.”
Another added: “Worst intercontinental meal ever. Looks better when the lid is on.”
Another flyer who had been travelling to Alaska said: “I think this is the worst airline meal I’ve ever had, or looked at.
“I only ate a couple of bites. The meat snapped back at me, which was a sure sign to avoid further bites.”
And one grossed out traveller who’d been to Thailand said that he’d tried maggots, roaches, frogs and scorpions on his trip – but didn’t have the nerve to try his scary-looking dinner on the flight.
The Sun Online has also revealed the woman who tastes in-flight meals for a living, as well as the best and worst airlines for a mile-high meal.
Meanwhile, world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay said he would never eat food served up on a plane as he “knows where it has been”.
