Shocking moment firefighters tackle SkyWest Airlines jet engine blaze at Denver International Airport

SHOCKING footage shows the moment firefighters douse an engine blaze on a United Airlines-contracted jet.

The plane landed with one of its turbines on fire after touching down at Denver International Airport today.

Photos from the runway show huge flames billowing from the left rear engine on the Bombardier CRJ-701.

According to witnesses the plane, operated by SkyWest Airlines, had flown in from Aspen, Colorado.

Flight UA5869 had landed at 2:20pm local time (9.20pm British time).

Passenger Raiyan Syed wrote on twitter: “My flight from Aspen to Denver caught fire on runway after landing”.

He added that there was a “quick and immediate response”, from firefighters. “Huge thanks to pilot and crew for helping get passengers off safe”.

Another passenger, lawyer Rabia Chaudry, wrote: “Everyone is safe though shook. All our stuff is on the plane. Waiting for diaper bag, stroller, ID, all my personal items”.

No injuries have been reported and operations got back to normal after the blaze panic at Denver International[/caption]

No injuries have been reported and officials are investigating, a spokesperson for Denver International Airport said.

“All runways are now open as investigation into SkyWest fire continues. Other airport operations remain unaffected”.

SkyWest, based in Utah, contracts its services to many major US airlines including United, American Airlines and Delta.

A United Airlines spokesperson said: “After landing safely at Denver, SkyWest flight 5869, a CRJ700 operating as United Express from Aspen to Denver, experienced engine issues.

“All 59 passengers and crew members safely deplaned the aircraft and were transported to the terminal.”
